Our Nelly
Sunkissed Acres is an equine rescue and sanctuary, but horse farms are also well known for having some of the most remarkable dogs. Nelly was ours.
Nelly came to the farm as a rescue many, many years ago and was the faithful companion for every chore, and was along side Lori for every moment of care, as every new rescue came to the farm, no matter if it was a horse, a cat, a dog or a human. No visitor to the farm arrived or left without being loved by Nelly, and she healed the broken hearts of every child who came to the farm for foster care.
Our Nelly was laid to rest on March 9th, she will be forever free to roam the farm, and while she is missed beyond words, her spirit is felt every day.
Many aren’t aware of this, but many wonderful dogs come through the farm and go on to loving homes. There are a few cats, and a few little humans that call Sunkissed Acres their forever home as well. Nelly greeted them all, and showed them what a home with love really was.
These are just a few of Nelly’s special friends, some of the photos were taken when they were rescued, and others in their new homes. Godspeed Nell…you loved so very, very much.
